MODERN RASCALS: Clothes, Toys and Books Kids Love

**2017 – first collaboration with Modern Rascals**

If you have been following me for a while or let me rephrase that, if you have been watching my boys grow up over the last few years, you’ll always find them dressed to impress with the latest styles and coolest prints. All kudos goes to Modern Rascals, founded by Toronto mom, Jana Reid. Modern Rascals is an online store that brings brands and products with bright colours, patterns and ethical and sustainable production. And while her customers are primarily in Canada and the US, worldwide shipping is available.

So, let me give you the 411 on how and when Jana and I connected. She reached out to me through social media in 2017, she loved the boys’ style and asked if I was interested in a collaboration. She didn’t have to ask me twice. Small Canadian business … check … female owned … check … sources ethical brands … check check check! I was curious and said yes! And so here we are five years later with a blog post and what makes the collaboration so special, you ask? What really stands out about the Modern Rascals brand is how Jana’s values align with mine. Her Instagram feed and the brands she carries represent the people around us. You will find something unique for that special someone. From Pride socks to a diverse collection of books to sourcing toys that resemble people in all shapes, sizes and colours.

CLOTHING

Hands down, all brands that Modern Rascals carries, the quality is unbeatable. My boys have worn t-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, swimwear, jackets and hats from popular brands such as Kukukid and Raspberry Republic. And as you know, kids love to play and get dirty, but 4 years later, the quality of clothing lives up to their reputation. And don’t forget to pass down clothes to siblings or close friends. We can all do our part in contributing to a more sustainable environment.

I am in love with this season’s Jelly Alligator’s swimwear collection, which is gender neutral. It’s nice to see my boys wearing bold colours and fun prints. They’re kids who like to have fun and dress the part.

And the print and colour of these sweaters are just gorgeous. Perfect for those cool summer nights and honestly they would wear these year round.

BOOKS

A curated selection of books ranging from non-fiction, fiction, nature, diversity and indigenous with age groups spanning from new born to adults. As you know, diversity, equity and inclusion efforts are important to my family. Growing up, I never had access to these types of books, I didn’t know any better and I never asked. As a parent raising multi-racial kids, I want my boys to see themselves in books and to have the opportunity to learn about other cultures and backgrounds.
